Vice-Chancellor Receives Courtesy Visit From The Mayor Of Itabashi, Japan

The mayor of Itabashi, Tokyo, Japan, His Excellency Sakamoto Takeshi, paid a courtesy call on the UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani at the Welcome Centre recently.

The Vice-Chancellor spent time engaging with the delegates apart from expressing his heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the delegates for making time to visit him at Sintok campus.

During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Bashawir and His Excellency Sakamoto Takeshi exchanged ideas and views on education issues involving the two countries.  Both parties expressed eagerness to forge closer cooperation in exploring opportunities from various aspects.

The Mayor of Itabashi was accompanied by his wife Mdm. Sakamoto Takae. The couple was also joined by Datuk Seri Tam Yun Tong, Datin Seri Ang Hui Chin, Jenny Liew York Lian, Limura Kazuki and Mr Alvin Pang.

The meeting was a follow-up to the recent working visit made by the Vice-Chancellor to Japan aimed at establishing collaborations with universities in the city of Itabashi.

Also present at the meeting were Assistant Vice-Chancellor of UUM COLGIS, Assoc. Prof Dr Mohd Fuad Othman; the Registrar, Mr Baharudin Yaacob; Director of the Chancellery, Mr Ahmad Rasidi Abdullah; Legal Advisor, Assoc. Prof Dr Zainal Amin Ayub and Director of the Centre for International Affairs and Cooperation (CIAC), Assoc. Prof Dr Mohamad Farizal Rajemi.
