Vice-Chancellor Gains Audience With The Raja Puan Muda Of Kedah

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dr Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani gained an audience with the Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Che Puan Muda Zaheeda binti Mohamad Ariff, the Raja Puan Muda of Kedah at the Wisma Darulaman recently.

The audience was aimed at extending a most cordial invitation to Her Royal Highness to attend the 32nd. UUM Convention Ceremony scheduled on 19 October.

In addition, the Vice-Chancellor apprised the Raja Puan Muda on matters related to the baju Kedah project.  At the same juncture, the Raja Puan Muda was also informed of UUM’s intent on appointing Her Royal Highness as the Patron of the Sintok batik embellished baju Kedah project.

The project will indeed benefit UUM, the Kedah state tourism sector and the people of Kedah particularly the denizens of the district of Pendang as the project will involve the rural entrepreneurs made up of tailors producing the traditional garments.  These garments will then be marketed locally and overseas.

From an academic standpoint, a high-quality coffee table book and scholarly work can be published that will serve as a reference in the future.

During the audience, Her Royal Highness was also informed that as she will be officiating the soft launch of the Baju Kedah project on a date which will be decided by Her Royal Highness.  Discussions were also carried out to set appointment dates to discuss ideas and opinions with Her Royal Highness to further develop the Baju Kedah project.

At the same juncture, the Raja Puan Muda also agreed to deliver the Annual Royal Keynote Address at the School of Law, consistent with her background and experience in the field of law.

Also present was His Royal Highness Tengku Sarafudin Badlishah Ibni Al Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin, the Raja Muda of Kedah Darul Aman.
