Vice–Chancellor Gains An Audience With His Royal Highness The Raja Muda Of Kedah Darul Aman
Alor Setar – UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dr Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani was granted an audience with His Royal Highness Tengku Sarafudin Badlishah Ibni Al Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin, the Raja Muda of Kedah Darul Aman at Wisma Darulaman, yesterday afternoon.
The audience was aimed at apprising His Royal Highness of the two upgrading projects which took place at the Sports Centre namely the construction of the grandstand project and the construction of the sports arena project.
During the audience, the Vice-Chancellor also extend a most cordial invitation to His Royal Highness to the Launching Ceremony of the Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) Sports Arena and the Grandstand scheduled to be held in August.
In addition, Prof Dr Ahmad Bashawir also apprised His Royal Highness of UUM being named the host of the 47th. Inter-Public University Golf Tournament on the 7 and 8 of September to be held at two venues namely the UUM Golf and Recreational Club and Darulaman Golf and Country Club, Jitra.
As a means of publicizing the annual tournament to the local and international community, the tournament also serves as an act of promoting UUM's world class 18-hole golf course, the Vice-Chancellor also extended a most cordial invitation to His Royal Highness to attend the Pre-Launch of the 47th. Inter-Public University Golf Tournament scheduled on 6 August at EDC Hotels and Resorts.
The Vice-Chancellor also informed His Royal Highness that as the Pro-Chancellor of UUM, he will be leading a delegation from UUM on a working visit to Qatar to garner the support of the Qatar government on UUM's proposal to create a Professorial Chair at one of Qatar's institutions of higher education.
In addition, the audience also was also aimed at seeking an audience with His Royal Highness Che Puan Muda Zaheeda binti Mohamad Ariff, the Raja Puan Muda of Kedah to further discuss matters concerning the Baju Kedah project – UUM Sintok Batik Motive to be promoted at domestic and international levels.
Prof Dr Ahmad Bashawir also extended a most cordial invitation to both His Royal Highnesses to attend the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) Concert, 'Irfan Plays Ravel' which will take place on 18 August in Kuala Lumpur.
During the audience, the Vice-Chancellor also extended a cordial invitation to both His Royal Highnesses to attend the first session of UUM’s 32nd. Convocation Ceremony on 19 October.
His Royal Highness was also apprised by the Vice-Chancellor on UUM's recent developments.
