UUM Vice-Chancellor Commissioned As PALAPES Colonel (Honorary)

Kuala Lumpur - Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Bashawir Hj. Abdul Ghani was commissioned as Colonel (Honorary) at the commissioning of credential ceremony held at the Army Headquarters of the Reserve Unit Division, Ministry of Defence recently.

The ceremony was officiated by Commander of the Army, General Dato' Seri Panglima Hj. Ahmad Hasbullah bin Hj. Mohd Nawawi .  The ceremony also marked the appointment of Prof Dr Ahmad Bashawir as the 9th. Commander of the UUM Reserve Officers Training Unit (PALAPES) with effect from 21 March.

At the event, Chief of Army Training, Major General Dato' Mohd Nazir Mami from the Army Command and Doctrine Headquarters (MK PLDTD) led pinning of rank ceremony as he was promoted from the rank of Major General to the Lieutenant General. He will assume the position of Commander of the Western Field Army (MK PMBTD).

In addition, the Director General of Army Headquarters (MK TD) OPLAT Branch, Brig. Jen. Hashim Aman Shah also received military promotion to the rank of Chief of Staff of the Joint Force Headquarters (MK AB).

A total of 25 officers received their military promotions.

Also present were Deputy Defence Minister YB Senator Liew Chin Tong and Army Deputy Chief, Lieutenant General Dato' Hasagaya Abdullah as well as senior army officers.
