UUM SUKSIS CAPABLE OF DEVELOPING FUTURE LEADERS WITH STRONG HUMANIST VALUES

SUKSISUUM ONLINE: The Student Police Volunteer Corps (SUKSIS) at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) is capable of developing into a future leader of distinction with strong humanist values.

Kedah Police Chief, Police Commissioner Wan Hassan Wan Ahmad, expressed his confidence in the officers of the UUM SUKSIS Corps' ability to be excellent human beings in a variety of ways, including having strong personal skills, extensive knowledge, and the ability to face any challenges that may arise.

According to him, undergoing training as a member of the SUKSIS Corps provides an advantage when applying for the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) screening and interview process, in addition to the ability to serve through volunteer activities by joining the PDRM Reserve Volunteer Team.

He explained that the SUKSIS Corps was established to provide education and exposure to police training to trainees, as well as serve as a major co-curricular activity at public universities.

“Numerous modules have been introduced to ensure that the students produced possess experience and knowledge of policing. The parade training module, the weapons training module, and the community service programme module are just a few of them.

"Congratulations to the 130 UUM SUKSIS Corps trainees who have successfully completed the training with excellence and with a strong sense of discipline and fighting spirit," he said yesterday at Appreciation Hi-tea Programme and Presentation of SUKSIS Corps Trainee Training Completion Certificate held at the Mu'adzam Shah Hall.

Police Commissioner Wan Hassan expressed hope that the students would consider a career in policing and make it their first choice.

Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah congratulated and expressed pride in all trainees for overcoming obstacles over a three-year period during which they were required to divide their time between training and learning.

According to him, meeting the challenge is not easy because trainees must be mentally and physically strong in order to remain in the SUKSIS Corps for three years.

He added that the success was also a result of both parents' blessings and prayers, as well as the service and sacrifice of UUM SUKSIS Corps officers and coaches who successfully trained and developed trainees into skilled human beings with strong police characteristics despite their busy schedules as members of the police force charged with maintaining the country's harmony and peace.

“I hope that students who volunteer as police officers succeed in their future careers and are able to continue assisting the PDRM authorities in maintaining peace and harmony in our beloved Malaysia.

“Assume that the PDRM logo is permanently embedded in the heart and that the words Allah and Muhammad are defended regardless of what happens. Our strength must be our integrity. As a great member, you must be unwavering, always dedicated, strong, of high integrity, and courageous enough to confront any obstacles in order to defend the agenda of continuity of religion, race, and country," he stated.

Apart from that, he is optimistic that PDRM will recognise the enormous potential for producing police personnel in the future through close collaboration with UUM, which has a track record of retaining skilled personnel due to its other academic programmes.
