UUM SUBSIDIARY CHANNELS RM6.5 MILLION FOR UUM

eff4c44e 1e0a 442d 8741 ac6b74339f2cUUM ONLINE: Uniutama Management Holdings Sdn. Bhd. (UMHSB), a subsidiary of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), has channelled approximately RM6.5 million in various forms to UUM and university-related activities.

According to the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Rodzi Lebai Karim, the business activities of the group have recently generated profits for UMHSB, enabling the company to provide returns to UUM in various forms.

He mentioned that the cash contribution for the previous year amounted to approximately RM2.3 million, with RM400,000 coming from UMHSB dividends and RM1.9 million coming from a royalty payment made by Uniutama Education and Consultancy Sdn. Bhd. (UECSB) to UUM.

"For the previous year alone, we paid about RM140,000 in business zakat and we are also working on the implementation of a programme that will benefit the B40 student group at UUM.

"I would like to express my gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for consistently offering guidance and assistance, thereby enabling the UMHSB group to advance its business activities within and outside the UUM campus," he said.

He made these remarks at the UMHSB Mock Check Handover Ceremony to UUM which took place at the Vice-Chancellor's Meeting Room, on Thursday afternoon.

Also present at the event were Prof. Dr Ahmad Marthada Mohammed, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni); Prof. Dr Osman Ghazali, Assistant Vice-Chancellor (UUM CAS); Prof. Dr Ram Al Jaffri Saad, Assistant Vice-Chancellor (UUM COB); Assoc. Prof. Dr Zainal Amin Ayub, Assistant Vice-Chancellor (UUM COLGIS) and Dr Mohd. Herry Mohd. Nasir, General Manager of UECSB.

At the event, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan expressed his utmost appreciation to the UMHSB Group.

"Praise to Allah, while many other university companies do not provide returns, UMHSB has allocated the proceeds generated from their business towards supporting the University and its associated activities," he said.

At the same event, the subsidiary contributed RM10,000 to the TISSA Edu Charity Golf 2023 which took place at the Penang Golf Club on 17 June.
