UUM STRENGTHEN RELATIONSHIP WITH UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA THROUGH LOI

UTSUUM ONLINE: Sydney - Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah continued his visit to the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) which is ranked 133rd best university in the world in the QS World University Rankings 2022.

The visit was a platform to create collaborations with the best Universities in Australia not only in mobility programs but also to discuss other potential collaboration proposals.

During the visit to UTS recently, the Malaysian delegation led by Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) Chairman, Datin Maizatul Akmam Alawi was welcomed by UTS representative Global Mobility Program Senior Manager, UTS International, Simon Watson and Global Partnership Vice President, Leo Mian Liu

Leo announced that that Malaysia has been selected as a country in the UTS priority list in the mobility program cooperation. The news was well received by representatives of public universities as it means the opportunity to increase number of mobility students through New Colombo Plan (NCP) Mobility Program is widely open.

The NCP Mobility Program provides funding for Australian students to study abroad via short -term studies, practicums, clinical placements, internships/mentorships and short-term research by providing credit transfer towards the degree programs

“UTS is interested in a two or three-week mobility program with strong academic content.

“In addition, UTS students are eligible to apply for the New Colombo Plan (NCP) Mobility Program which provides funding up to AUD3,000. UTS also provides a loan up to AUD7000 for students to study abroad,” he added.

In a separate visit, UUM continued the discussion with Dean, UTS Business School. Prof. Carl Rhodes and Associate Director (International), UTS Business School, Prof. Leona Tam.

Speaking at the visit session, Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman expressed UUM’s interest to collaborate in four areas which are Student Exchange for Cultural Understanding & Empathy (SECURE) program, Strategic Transnational Research & Innovation for Knowledge Enhancement (STRIKE) program, Staff Exchange for Academic Leadership & Scholarship (SEALS) program, Strategic Engagement for Education Development & Sustainability (SEEDS) program.

In his reply, Prof. Rhodes said that UTS business school is interested to explore collaborations in the proposed areas, while Prof. Tam expressed her interest in exploring double degree programs for several programs such as Accountancy, Banking dan Human Resource Management.

The session ended with exchange of Letter of Intent (LOI) between UUM and UTS.
