UUM ONLINE: Sime Darby Rent-A-Car Sdn. Bhd. delivered four Honda Civic sedan variants to Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM).

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan said this initiative can facilitate staff comfort while performing duties outside the region, especially when travelling from one destination to the next, such as Kuala Lumpur and Penang.

"UUM consistently prioritises the safety of its staff, ensuring they can perform their duties comfortably, joyfully, and securely until they reach their destination.

"This vehicle will be utilised collectively by all users and can be maximised in its usage. I believe that all the services provided will facilitate the smooth operation of UUM’s management and administration," he said.

He expressed gratitude to the university management for their cooperation and support in enhancing the university's vehicle management by procuring vehicle rentals.

According to him, UUM has agreed to acquire rental vehicles due to the fact that more than 80% of the university's sedan vehicles are over 10 years old. In fact, two of these vehicles are nearly 25 years old.

In addition, the significant expenses associated with vehicle maintenance contribute to UUM's requirement for new vehicles.

"Congratulations to Sime Darby Rent A-Car for securing a two-year vehicle supply contract with UUM.

"Through this rental, all maintenance costs and wear & tear on the vehicle are fully borne by Sime Darby Rent-A-Car, which indirectly saves the university's financial expenses," he added.

He entrusted Sime Darby Rent-A-Car, a specialist in vehicle fleet management, with the aim of forging a lasting strategic partnership.
