According to Mr. Deevagaran, Junior Chambers International is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) for young people that operates on an international level responsible for organising the competition that took place from 10 to 13 May 2023.

"I was selected along with members of the team consisting of JCI members from all over Malaysia after we successfully won the competition at the Malaysian level in Kuching, Sarawak the previous year.

"In order for the Malaysian team to advance to the final stage of this competition, they had to go through four stages. The first stage was the qualifiers, which we won against the Philippines. The next stage was the quarter-finals, and we won against Cambodia.

"During the semi-final, the Malaysian team defeated the Mongolian team, and then went on to claim victory over the Bangladeshi squad. I am extremely thankful to all the team members who have worked from the beginning to the final stage," said the semester eight student.

Apart from Mr. Deevagaran, two other representatives of JCI Malaysia to the competition are fellow lawyers namely Mr. John Ung Soon Hock and Mr. Tan Lik Wei.

The trio is set to serve as the representatives of the Asia Pacific region in the upcoming global event scheduled to be held in Zurich, Switzerland in November of this year.

Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Mohd Fo'ad Sakdan, extended his congratulations to Mr. Deevagaran for his achievement, which has contributed to the enhancement of UUM's reputation on a global scale.
