UUM-IYRES PACT FOCUSES ON YOUTH ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

iyresUUM ONLINE: To help the economic development of the country's youths, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) and the Institute for Youth Research Malaysia (IYRES) sealed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at the Visitors’ Lounge yesterday.

The memorandum was signed by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah, while IYRES was represented by its Chairman, Dr. Muhammad Mahadi Mohamad.

Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman stated that the strategic collaboration between UUM and IYRES will elevate the reputation of youth to a higher level as a result of the joint studies.

According to him, the initiative also serves as a step by UUM and IYRES to complement each other and improve youth issues.

He stated that UUM is ready to collaborate with IYRES to conduct youth research, with the study's findings being presented to the agencies involved for the next course of action.

“This MoU also marks the beginning of significant steps, particularly in the economic development of youth, for the future of young people of all races and religions.

"The entire campus community and I are determined to make an impact on the country and reach out to the youth not only to educate them in the academic aspect, but also in many other ways," he said.

He also expressed hope that UUM's collaboration through the School of Economics, Finance and Banking (SEFB) would make the agenda a reality, resulting in the best outcomes for all.

Meanwhile, Dr. Muhammad Mahadi expressed optimism that the collaboration with UUM could be strengthened further for the survival of the new generation, particularly among the youth.

According to him, his party will seize the opportunity to fully commit to strategic cooperation with UUM, with the agenda centred on the youth economy.

He stated that the study's findings will not be displayed on the shelves, but will instead serve as a guideline and reference to be used as policy in the future.

As a result, he strongly supports the initiative that IYRES and UUM will take for the development of the youth in this country.
