UUM IS TOP 100 BEST UNIVERSITIES OF ASIA
UUM ONLINE: Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) has been included for the first time in the group of Asia's top 100 universities, when Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Asia University Rankings 2022 released the region's university rankings recently.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Prof. Dr Haim Hilman Abdullah who is performing the duties of Vice-Chancellor stated that UUM's position in 98th place, up from 107 a year ago, is the university's best achievement, demonstrating that all planning undertaken since the start of the UUM Strategic Plan in 2011 is accurate and the university is on the right track.
According to him, the consistent leap demonstrated each year is a collective effort that each university denizens should be proud of, as it is difficult to earn a spot on the list of the world's best universities, let alone in Asia, because it involves a university's reputation.
"We have been ranked among Asia's top 100 universities based on our academic reputation and employer reputation. These accomplishments are facilitated by elements or foundations outlined in strategic plans pertaining to the quality of teaching and learning, research, and holistic student development.
"Moreover, the quality of the designed curriculum earned the trust of external academics, as evidenced by the number of accreditations received, demonstrating that the quality of the UUM curriculum is among the best and guaranteed to instil confidence in employers regarding the quality of graduates we produce," he added.
Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman stated that the university will continue to strengthen its brand not only on a national level, but also internationally, in order to increase trust and confidence in UUM's reputation.
He expressed hope that university residents would redouble their efforts to collaborate on university initiatives such as Gagasan Gemilang Akademia & Admin Holistik (GAGAH), because there is still much work to be done to bring UUM up to par with other world-class universities.
