UUM-Ingeniworks Sdn. Bhd. Pact Set To Enhance Skills Related To Iot Technology And Big Data Analytics

Kuala Lumpur – Consistent with the current technological developments in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR4.0), technological breakthroughs are seen to be of considerable benefit in today's life.

The education world too has also felt its great impact, hence in order to enhance the skill set of staff and students in tandem with the technological sophistication of the Internet of Thing (IoT) and big data analytics, UUM has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ingeniworks Sdn. Bhd.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Prof. Dr. Ayoib Che Ahmad said the field of studies at UUM particularly in the field of Information Technology had received accolades and recognition both locally and abroad.

In fact, he said graduates of the Information Technology programme were highly sought after by the industry. More than 60 percent of graduates secured jobs in fields related to Computer Science and Information Science within six months after graduation.

He said UUM chose Ingeniworks Sdn. Bhd. as one of its strategic partners with the goal of enhancing the collaborative activities and initiatives between the industry and university in the university's three core activities: research, education and continuous service.

“Through collaboration with various parties including Ingeniworks Sdn. Bhd., will further enhance the implementation of the University-Industry-Community Cooperation Strengthening Plan that outlines some of the best mechanisms and practices for cultivating close ties and strategic cooperation between universities, industry and the community,” he said at the Signing Ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UUM and Ingeniworks Sdn. Bhd. at the EDC Hotel recently.

The ceremony witnessed him on behalf of UUM Vice-Chancellor signing the Mou with Chief Executive Officer of Ingeniworks Sdn. Bhd., Mr Nazli Awang Had.

According to Prof Dr Ayoib, following the implementation of the MoU, plans to renovate the lab at the Institute for Advanced and Smart Digital Opportunities (IASDO) at the existing School of Computing (SOC) would take place.  The lab will be rebranded as the Sensor and Application Innovation Centre (SONIC) which will conduct training workshops for students and staff in the field of data analytics and IoT applications.

He also expressed hope that the collaboration and smart partnership will benefit every segment of society, thus realizing the philosophy of democratic education in the true sense.

“Congratulations to SOC for constantly being committed to ensuring that the academic programmes offered are relevant to the demands of the current job market and industry in the era of IR4.0.

"I really hope that the signing of the MoU will boost existing areas of cooperation, as well as generate new areas of cooperation that will bring about impact and benefits to the well-being of the community and not to mention generate new wealth," he said.

Meanwhile, Mr Nazli Awang Had also expressed his gratitude to everyone responsible for making the event a success and paving the way for the successful sealing of the MoU between Ingeniworks Sdn. Bhd. and UUM.

UUM SOC through its IASDO and Ingeniworks Sdn. Bhd., a subsidiary of MSD Digital Intelligence have conducted various activities such as roundtable discussions, conducting data analysis, writing and publishing of articles on data analytics.
