UUM IMPROVES ITS POSITION IN THE EMERGING ECONOMIES UNIVERSITY RANKINGS 2019

Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) soared up to the 201-250 position in the Times Higher Education (THE) Emerging Economies University Rankings 2019 compared to its previous position at the 251-300 rung.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani said UUM managed to improve its position based on the latest results of the Times Higher Education Emerging Economies University Rankings 2019 survey.

Prof. Dr. Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani expressed his elation on the achievement as the surge in position showed UUM’s impressive performance.

"However, currently as universities around the world give precedence to rankings and ratings, UUM will continue to focus on integrating education based on its core values- Knowledge Virtue Service.

"I hope this achievement will give the UUM community a sense of motivation and commitment to work harder," he said.

Times Higher Education Emerging Economies University Rankings 2019 applies five core indicators: teaching (30 percent), research (30 percent), citation (20 percent), international survey (10 percent) and industrial revenue (10 percent).

Times Higher Education lists countries classified by FTSE under categories such as 'advance emerging', 'secondary emerging' and 'frontier' in Times Higher Education Emerging Economies University Rankings 2019.
