UUM DEVELOPS ‘UUM PARENT’ APPLICATION TO MAKE IT EASIER FOR PARENTS TO GAIN ACCESS TO STUDENT INFORMATION

uum parentUUM ONLINE: The advancement of modern technology today has made all types of information available at your fingertips, resulting in a high reliance on technology.

The most recent technological advancements have also prompted Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) to create an app called 'UUM Parent' specifically for parents to obtain information about their child's classes, exams, finances, and attendance to lectures throughout their studies at this university.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Dr. Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani said the application developed by UUMIT in June last year began to be used in November and can be downloaded from Google Play, Apple Store or Huawei AppGallery.

According to him, there was no denying that advanced technology had benefited the community in various aspects, including education. The ‘UUM Parent’ application provides various information to parents or guardians to monitor their children's academic performance, attendance at lectures and finances.

Furthermore, he stated, parents can obtain information immediately without having to attend university or meet with lecturers to learn about their child's development.

“No matter where the parents are, they can find information about the programme, the school, and the address of their child's accommodation at UUM.

"Parents only need to log in by entering their identity card or MyKad number as 'Username' and the student's matric number as 'Password,' making this application very simple for both parents and guardians to obtain accurate information about their child's studies," he said.

The Vice-Chancellor said that ‘UUM Parent' also allowed parents to get information about programmes or activities that took place on campus.

According to him, the application will also reduce parents' reliance on the university to manage their children by 100 percent. As a result, parents and guardians will be able to collaborate with the university to ensure their children's success throughout their studies at UUM.

"Today, this technological facility is a requirement because it facilitates communication between humans regardless of time or distance," he said.
