UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan, said that UUM, through its School of Technology Management and Logistics (STML), will collaborate with UTeM in fields that can enhance the performance and reputation of both universities.

"Although in general, UUM and UTeM typically specialise in distinct fields, I believe that these two universities in principle possess distinct areas of thrust. Consequently, there exists an opportunity and platform for collaboration in order to collectively foster success.

"I hope that the strategic cooperation between both institutions will benefit various parties, not only stakeholders and students, but will also have an impact on the community," he said.

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UUM and UTeM was signed by Dr Mohd Foad and UTeM Vice Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Ts. Dr Massila Kamalrudin, and witnessed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International) of UTeM, Prof. Dr Zulkifilie Ibrahim, and the Dean of STML, Prof. Dr Nor Hasni Osman.

Meanwhile, Prof. Dr Massila expressed her elation about the fact that UTeM has once again formally expanded its network of cooperation with UUM, a prestigious public institution of higher education in Malaysia.

According to her, fostering collaboration with public institutions of higher education is a crucial strategic initiative that needs to be emphasised in order to enhance the reputation of universities both nationally and internationally.

"Congratulations to the Faculty of Technology Management and Technopreneurship (FPTT) for successfully establishing a solid partnership that brings significant benefits to research, education, supervision and management activities for both parties involved.

"Through this collaboration, UTeM will be able to enhance its ability to produce competent, high-quality graduates, thereby meeting the industry’s requirements and demands," she said.

She added that the signing of the MoU between UTeM and UUM can lead both institutions to achieve national and international excellence in higher education.

According to Prof. Dr Massila, in order to address the current challenges and issues effectively, it is crucial to have cooperation. This collaboration will ensure that the solutions are based on the correct model. Therefore, through this strategic partnership, a more comprehensive, organised and coordinated programme can be implemented. This will be particularly beneficial for UTeM and UUM in terms of improving their world rankings.

She hoped that the MoU signed between UTeM and UUM would open a new chapter and enhance the cooperation between UTeM and other leading universities in the country, ultimately benefiting all parties involved.

Also present at the event were Deputy Dean (Academic and International) of STML, Assoc. Prof. Dr Norsiah Hami; Deputy Dean (Research and Innovation) of STML, Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr Mohd Kamarul Irwan Abdul Rahim; as well as UUM and UTeM senior officials.
