UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dato' Dr Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani said the programme organised in collaboration with the Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education (KPM) would focus on improving the academic performance of students in selected schools namely SK Bukit Pinang, particularly those who would be sitting for the up-coming Primary School Achievement Test (Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR).

According to him, he did not want the program to be a 'one-off' programme conversely there should be gradual improvement from time to time, especially with regard to student academic performance.

He said to be successful required sacrifice and high level of discipline as well as the passion for learning; parents must also play an important role in ensuring their children's success.

"Parents are the backbone of enhancing the academic performance of these children and they cannot leave the responsibility entirely to the school or teachers.

"In addition, I ask the teachers in this school to cooperate with the management of the school because with a high level of commitment and enthusiasm for success, SK Bukit Pinang will surely achieve the desired result," he said at the University-School Collaborative Programme Inaugural Ceremony cum Meet the Parents of Year Six UPSR Meeting.
