Unity And Fellowship Amongst Members Of PERSATU Crucial In The Realisation Of The University Agenda

UNITY AND FELLOWSHIP AMONGST MEMBERS OF PERSATU CRUCIAL IN THE REALISATION OF THE UNIVERSITY AGENDA

The unity and fellowship amongst fellow academicians are vital in establishing the close collaboration towards realising the agenda set by the University.

According to UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani, the management of the university seriously views matters related to the welfare of the staff not only involving academic staff but also all those employed by UUM.

"Issues related to health, promotion and others are my top priority so as to ensure that the work environment in UUM is conducive and work pleasure exists," he said this at the opening of the 2nd Annual General Meeting of the UUM Academic Staff Association (PERSATU) at Seminar A Hall, Convention Complex, recently.

In the meantime, he expressed hope that PERSATU will pay attention to what was mentioned by the Minister of Education, Dr. Maszlee Malik in his 2019 Address which outlined the direction of education namely value-based education, improving the quality of the system and autonomy and accountability.

He added that attention should also be given to efforts to restore the credentials of public university that are based on four specific directions - quality, autonomy, collaboration and internationalization.

Based on the direction of education and the specific direction for universities, Malaysians will be afforded with education that has been streamlined in accordance with what has been enshrined in the National Education Philosophy as well as function well within the community and the society.

Also present at the event were the newly appointed President of PERSATU, Prof. Dr. Razamin Ramli, former President of PERSATU, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Halim Mad Lazim, as well as leaders and members of PERSATU.
