THE HARD WORK AND COMMITMENT OF MEMBERS OF STAFF RECOGNISED BY THE UNIVERSITY

kenaikan pangkatUUM ONLINE: UUM staff who have shown excellence in their performance throughout the service period were honoured at the Presentation of Promotion Letters and Letters of Confirmation in the Service for Staff of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), at Seminar Hall A, Convention Centre, recently.

Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) who is performing the duties of Vice-Chancellor, said UUM was trying its best to expedite the promotion and confirmation processes.

According to him, the university would also ensure that vacancies were filled as soon as possible. The University was also looking into the issue of contract employees who had served for a long period as it is the University’s responsibility to do so.

“Who else will be held accountable if the staff's well-being is neglected?

"No one can stop us from making an amazing commitment, even among regular people. Perhaps we are from the countryside, but no one can stop us from becoming eminent academics. Let us be ordinary in the eyes of the community but special in the eyes of our students and colleagues at UUM by giving our all," he urged.

During the event, Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman congratulated all of the staff involved and expressed his hope that they would be able to contribute more effectively in carrying out their duties in the future.

"UUM staff should rise to their feet and do their best as a team and as a UUM family. Show strength and we will one day be a part of UUM's success story," he urged.

Meanwhile, Mdm. Wan Norazlinda Wanchik, Senior Assistant Director, Department of Academic Affairs, thanked the University for believing in her abilities and promoting her.

She characterised promotion as a stage in reorienting oneself and contributing to the university's success.

"Continue to be passionate in developing efforts, self-potential, and work quality to contribute to the finest service possible toward university greatness.

"I feel valued and satisfied when all of my efforts, hard work, and commitment are recognised by the university administration," she said, adding that she began working at UUM in 2010.

A total of 16 academic staff received their respective promotion letters, including 12 Associate Professors (DS54) and four Senior Lecturers (DS52). Meanwhile, 10 administrative staff, including management and professional staff, as well as executive staff, received their Flexi and time-based promotions.

Throughout 2021, a total of 26 academic employees were promoted to the position of Associate Professor (DS54), 13 to the position of Senior Lecturer (DS52), and 36 to various administrative positions.
