SEVENTH CHILD OUT OF 13 SIBLINGS ALL SET TO REALISE DREAM OF BECOMING A BANK OFFICER

pelajar b40UUM ONLINE: Alor Setar - Who would have guessed that despite being the daughter a labourer, she would be able to set foot on the ivory tower and realise her dream of becoming a successful bank officer.

Ms. Azlina Mohd Lokman seeks to accomplish this. She is her parents' pride and joy because she is the first child to be admitted to Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) for the 2021/2022 academic session.

The seventh child of 13 siblings was offered a place at UUM to pursue the Bachelor of Banking with Honours programme.

Ms. Azlina described her accomplishment in gaining entry to the ivory tower as a golden opportunity for her to pursue her dreams and subsequently repay her parents' compassion and sacrifice.

“I am grateful and thankful to UUM, particularly to the Deputy Vice- Chancellor (Research and Innovation) who personally dropped by my home and deliver the offer letter to me.

"UUM is my first-choice university because I regard this university as very prestigious and capable of assisting me in achieving my ambition as a bank officer," she said.

Meanwhile, Ms. Azlina's father, Mr. Mohd Lokman Abdullah, wept when he learned that his daughter had been accepted to study at UUM, becoming the family's first child to successfully gain entry into the ivory tower.

He expressed gratitude to UUM and all parties who visited his home not only to deliver the offer letter, but also present contributions to his family.

Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah who is performing the duties of Vice-Chancellor expressed optimism that Ms. Azlina's humble life will serve as a catalyst for her accomplishment and serve as an example to her siblings.

“In sha Allah, UUM will provide a platform for Azlina to pursue her academic goals and will prepare her for the working world, so that Azlina can one day become a bank officer," he said last Thursday after presenting the offer letter and contribution to Ms. Azlina and her family at Lorong Keriang, Jalan Langgar.
