"RIMC: Way Forward" – Looks Into The Direction Of Research In UUM

RIMC WAY FORWARD LOOKS INTO THE DIRECTION OF RESEARCH IN UUMIn a bid to discuss the direction of research at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), the Research and Innovation Management Centre (RIMC) organized a program with members of the University Board of Directors (LPU) - "RIMC: Way Forward" at the Senate Meeting Room.

The program chaired by Dato' Prof. Dr. Sudin Haron, who is also the Chairman of the UUM LPU, also comprised stakeholders involved in research.

In his speech he said a new approach should be taken in conducting research in line with the change in time.

"Time has evolved; the way of thinking too has changed. To boost research, researchers need to get the involvement of various parties and not work in silo when conducting research. Members of the Board of Directors should also intervene by helping to find research funds from outside as well as provide consultation," he said.

He further added that the University should focus on comparative study in the Southeast Asian region as UUM aspires to become an important player in the field of research in the region.

"The grants to be issued must also be in the form of technology transfer and research must be addressed towards solving problems of the society in line with the Education Minister’s Address. This of course is the way forward which should be the focus," he explained.

During the session, the Director of RIMC, Prof. Dr. Nor Aziah Abd Manaf also carried out a presentation on RIMC and its direction.

Also present at the event were Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Prof. Dr. Ayoib Che Ahmad and members of the University Management Committee (JPU).
