PRESENTATION OF PRELIMINARY FINDINGS OF TANJUNG DAWAI TOURISM DEVELOPMENT STUDY

tg dawaiUUM ONLINE: Kuala Muda – Following the working visit to Tanjung Dawai, recently, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah, who is performing the duties of Vice-Chancellor, presented the preliminary study findings to the Minister of Rural Development, Dato' Seri Mahdzir Khalid.

At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman presented the results of the preliminary study after a meeting with the Sungai Petani Kedah Municipal Council (MPSPK).

Prof. Dr. Haim stated that the School of Tourism, Hospitality, and Event Management (STHEM) will conduct several studies on infrastructure, particularly homestay services in Tanjung Dawai, as well as identify potential tourist attractions to help improve the tourism sector in the area.

Furthermore, he stated that UUM will assess the potential or role it can play in the development of Tanjung Dawai through strategic collaboration with MPSPK and KPLB.

"This type of cooperation is anticipated by the local community and other agencies where UUM can play a role, particularly in the areas of tourism and socio-economic development in Tanjung Dawai.

"We have experts in tourism and business, including experienced lecturers and students, who can have a positive impact on development here," he said.

Dr. Johan Afendi Ibrahim, Dean of STHEM, and Mr. Mohd Fairus Abd Majid, Director of UUM Corporate Communication, were also present.
