OYAGSB ALUMNI URGED TO HELP ELEVATE UUM

oyagsb hiteaUUM ONLINE: Putrajaya- The recognition of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), which is ranked as Malaysia's second-best public university, needs to be strengthened and maintained through a network of relationships between UUM and its alumni.

This is due to the fact that each alumnus has unique potential and strengths in the industry. As a result, UUM sees a great opportunity for alumni to use their experience and expertise to assist the university in a variety of ways and approaches.

According to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah, UUM has been recognised as the second-best university in Malaysia, while Othman Yeop Graduate School of Business (OYAGSB) remains the country's top business school.

As a result, he expressed his belief that the excellent achievement should be reinforced through reciprocal contributions made by UUM alumni, particularly OYAGSB alumni.

"I invite all alumni to work together with UUM and OYAGSB to multiply efforts, channelling contributions not only from financial or material aspects but also efforts to strengthen the programmes offered by OYAGSB.

"I am confident that alumni participation will be extremely beneficial and inspirational to current students," he said.

Speaking before nearly 100 OYAGSB alumni at the OYAGSB Alumni Hi-Tea 2022, Prof. Dr Haim Hilman expressed hope that the alumni would be able to form a strategic collaboration to achieve the university's various development agendas.

"Our goal is to be Malaysia's best university. If fellow alumni and UUM work strategically together, it is not impossible for UUM to become the best university in the world.

"UUM's recent accomplishments must be maintained and improved upon. Make use of the alumni expertise that is available. One day, the alumni will be proud knowing that they played a role in the success story," Haim Hilman said.

Meanwhile, the Dean of OYAGSB, Prof. Dr. Hassan Abu Bakar said that the Hi-Tea with Alumni programme was organised to foster a deeper bond between alumni and the administration at UUM in general and OYAGSB in particular.

According to him, as the best business school, strong ties with alumni must be continuously cultivated so that alumni will feel a sense of belonging toward UUM and OYAGSB.

Prof. Dr. Hassan, who is also the Provost of UUMKL, reiterated that networking with alumni is a key strategy for promoting the UUM brand, in particular, OYAGSB.

At the same event, the OYAGSB Alumni Trust Fund was launched, and awards were presented to four alumni, namely, Dr. Mohd Azahani Md Taib, Mr. Azua Kamaruddin, Dato' Dr. Mohd Faudzi Musa, and Norharizan Hussin. These awards were presented as an acknowledgement by OYAGSB to its successful alumni in two categories - "Successful 'C' Level Award" and "Successful Entrepreneur Award".

For the record, OYAGSB successfully produced 6,278 graduates, which represents 3.9 percent of the total 160,127 graduates produced by UUM.
