NEWLY APPOINTED VC PLEDGES TO CONTINUE THE UNIVERSITY'S MISSION OF BECOMING THE EMINENT MANAGEMENT UNIVERSITY

vc baruUUM ONLINE: Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah was officially appointed as the ninth Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) effective 17 January to succeed Prof. Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani whose tenure ended on 25 August 2021.

Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman, who has been performing the duties of Vice-Chancellor of UUM since 12 September last year, also holds the position of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) from 1 January 2021.

The Tanjung Malim, Perak native pledged to continue the university's mission of becoming the eminent management university, as well as to uphold the trust placed in him to lead the leadership of UUM in the best possible way for the university’s sustainability.

Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah holds a PhD in Strategic Management from Universiti Putra Malaysia, as well as a Master's Degree and a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Portsmouth, United Kingdom.

He began his career at UUM in 2000, he has held various administrative positions within the School and various departments. He has over 20 years of experience in academics and administration at the university.

Previously, he served as Assistant Vice-Chancellor of UUM College of Business (COB), Director of the Institute of Quality Management (IPQ), Director of the Corporate Management Unit, IPQ and Member of the Academic Advisory Committee - QS World University Rankings.

His experience and expertise in the field of strategic management have made him a sought-after keynote speaker and speaker for a variety of organisation, both domestic and international. In addition, he has over 200 books, journal articles, proceedings and newspaper articles to his credit.

He has also received various recognitions and awards at the national and international levels including the Literati Awards 2020, Awards for Excellence Highly Commended, Emerald Publishing Limited; Distinguished Business Dean, Academy of Global Business Advancement (AGBA), United States of America and Productivity Champion, Malaysia Productivity Corporation, Malaysia. 

May, UUM be able to achieve greater success with the strategic planner being appointed as the University’s main leader, that will enable the university to achieve the vision set forth in the 2010 UUM Strategic Plan and Gagasan Gemilang Akademia and Holistic Admin Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) 2021-2025 (GAGAH UUM) which he launched last year.
