MoU Between UUM And DreamEDGE Focuses On Developing Human Capital In The Era Of IR4.0

MOU BETWEEN UUM AND DreamEDGE FOCUSES ON DEVELOPING HUMAN CAPITAL IN THE ERA OF IR4.0

Cyberjaya – In the wake of technological advancements in the Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR 4.0), collaboration between universities and industry has played an important role in human capital development.

In this regard, to realise this aspiration, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UUM and DreamEDGE Sdn. Bhd. was sealed at the iTECH Tower recently.

The signing of the MoU was officiated by UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani on behalf of UUM while and DreamEDGE Sdn. Bhd. was represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Mr Khairil Adri Adnan.

The Vice-Chancellor said UUM did not want to miss out on working closely with the industry despite being located in Sintok so as to ensure that the university's aspiration of engendering human capital that could contribute to the country be realised.

According to him, besides the industry, universities and academics should also contribute together to develop UUM not only in the field of computing electronics or the likes but to produce human capital in the future in tandem with IR 4.0.

He said that as a management university that focuses on management, UUM now aspired to become a university that focuses on managing industry.

“As such, I want to bridge the gap between industry and academia for future sake, furthermore the relations between academia and industry not something new.

"In addition, the university should also prepare students with the expertise they have for a better future," he said at the MoU Signing Ceremony between UUM and DreamEDGE Sdn. Bhd.

Prof. Dr. Ahmad Bashawir said he wanted to prove to Prime Minister Tun Dr. that UUM as a management university is now able to manage the existing technology by taking UUM to the next level.

He expressed hope that the denizens of UUM could envisage the future and not just talk about academics but prepare the human capital for which the graduates would be able to contribute to the country.

MoU between UUM and DreamEDGE Sdn. Bhd. will focus on enhancing research and development (R&D) as well as product and process innovation for both parties.

Meanwhile, Mr Khairil Adri expressed his heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for the opportunity to work with UUM to develop human capital which incidentally was the main reason for the setting up of DreamEDGE.

According to him, with the right human capital being developed, the said individual can produce whatever he wants.

“Therefore, I greatly welcome the collaboration with UUM in proving that we are still relevant in the industry to help develop human capital that is needed by industry players out there.

He further reiterated that DreamEDGE was willing to share their expertise and experience with UUM.  And with the close collaboration established will indeed result in something worthwhile.

He also expressed his willingness to establish a DreamEDGE laboratory at UUM for research and development (R&D) purposes, in addition to welcoming UUM students who wished to pursue industrial training there including the placement of lecturers in the industry.

At the same event, Mr Khairil Adri was presented with a letter of appointment as the Adjunct Fellow of the School of Computing (SOC) for two years beginning from July 2019 to June 2021.

Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor and all members of the University Management Committee (JPU) had the opportunity to witness the demonstration of DreamEDGE prototype smart car after which they were taken on a tour around the office.
