KABI 4.0 IS BACK WITH THE HIGHLIGHTS OF MAPIM X SHOPEE

UUM ONLINE: The Online Scholarly Book Carnival 4.0 (KABI 4.0), organised by the Malaysian Scholarly Publication Council (MAPIM), is back once more from 15 October to 15 November via the Shopee online sales platform, offering discounted prices and a diverse variety of scholarly publications.

Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah, Chairman of the MAPIM Executive Committee, said that this year marks the fourth year of KABI being held online, with the event focusing on higher education students seeking to acquire books published by academic publishers via online purchasing.

According to him, more than 20,000 book titles are available in KABI 4.0 with purchase vouchers, and buyers can expect book prices to be as low as MYR11 from participating publishers.

He stated that KABI used the official MAPIM Facebook page as its platform for promotion and online activities, in addition to launching a large-scale campaign for each e-commerce site and 'marketplace' of MAPIM members who participated, including the private sector.

"With the organisation of KABI 4.0 for a month, we are targeting MYR1 million in sales, in conjunction with the culmination of KABI 4.0 from 26 October to 11 November known as MAPIM X Shopee, where purchasers can purchase academic books through the Shopee platform.

"MAPIM X Shopee is a strategic collaboration between MAPIM Publishers and Shopee for the second time since 2020, and it has become Shopee's 'marketplace' site to undertake large-scale online sales campaigns with attractive offers," he explained.

Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) who is performing the duties of Vice-Chancellor said that KABI 4.0 and MAPIM X Shopee provided opportunities for the entire community to obtain reading materials, not only academic books, but also a wider genre of books at affordable prices.

Furthermore, he said Republika Merah, a book chat platform that allows authors and readers to conduct dialogues, will be integrated online this time through Facebook MAPIM as one of the components of KABI 4.0.

"I cordially invite all fans of scholarly books and other genres to join KABI 4.0 and also participate in the highlight of the MAPIM X Shopee carnival to get their favourite reading materials at a discounted price," he said.

MAPIM is a collaboration of scholarly publishers from Malaysian public universities and publishers from public research institutions.
