GRADUATES OF BAITULMAL PROFESSIONAL COLLEGE GET CREDIT EXEMPTION TO FURTHER STUDIES AT UUM

5UUM ONLINE: Baitulmal Professional College Kuala Lumpur (KPBKL) and Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the aim of developing the nation's agenda, especially for the underprivileged group.

UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan, stated that the memorandum allows both parties to establish strategic cooperation. This includes strengthening the relationship between public and private institutions of higher education, creating more opportunities for KPBKL graduates to pursue their studies at UUM, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing through public lectures, academic discussions, and forums.

In this context, UUM consistently devises cooperation strategies with various entities to develop the nation, particularly focusing on the underprivileged group, which is one of the responsibilities emphasised in Islam.

"UUM has collaborated with the Kedah State Zakat Board (LZNK) to enhance the management of zakat in Kedah. Researchers from UUM have conducted various studies related to zakat management, and the findings have been utilised by LZNK to improve zakat management for the benefit of the underprivileged group.

"I extend my congratulations to the Islamic Business Studies (IBS) for their initiative in establishing this collaboration, and I express my utmost appreciation for the efforts and commitment of everyone involved and the Professional Baitulmal College, Kuala Lumpur (KPBKL), for the support and trust to UUM," he said at the Memorandum of Understanding Signing Ceremony between Universiti Utara Malaysia and Kolej Professional Baitulmal, Kuala Lumpur (KPBKL), at the Balai Tamu, UUM.

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer of KPBKL MAIWP, Mr. Radzuan Razali, described the memorandum as a strategic collaboration, including credit transfer for KPBKL diploma graduates, research and development projects, workshops and training programmes, staff exchange, innovation, and publication exchange.

He emphasised that the event was significant in line with KPBKL's aspirations and commitment to providing opportunities for students from across the country to enhance their knowledge and produce competitive graduates for the industry in the future.

KPBKL, which was established in 1992 and is fully owned by the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP), initially offered only two professional programmes but has since grown.

“Now, KPBKL offers 17 programmes, consisting of 12 Homegrown Diploma programmes, two Professional Certificates, and three collaborative programmes with UiTM. Last year, KPBKL received approval to enrol international students.

"KPBKL also has a Training and Consultancy Centre that offers short courses such as Halal Management, Travel & Tours Enhancement Course (TTEC), Umrah Specialised Enhancement Course (USEC), team building, communication, and human resource management," he added.
