pku vaksinUUM ONLINE: A total of 54 frontliners of the University Health Centre (UHC) have been vaccinated with the first dose of the Comirnaty vaccine from Pfizer BioNTech recently.

Director of the UHC, Dr. Adi Azhar Abdul Razak said all 54 frontliners of the UHC received their first jab from a six-member team of vaccinators who are staff of the Changlun Health Clinic.

According to him, before the injections were administered, they were first briefed by the fellow Medical Officer at the UHC, Dr. Rabi'ah Abdul Ghani about the vaccine. Incidentally, all the vaccine recipients have earlier been identified as having no contraindications to receiving the vaccine.

“Frontliners are the foremost group of people who face a high risk of getting infected while performing their duties.

“I urge that all denizens of the University to register to get inoculated via the MySejahtera application and also with their respective departments. We need to work together to make the National Covid-19 Immunization Programme (PICK) a success,” he said.

For the staff at the UHC to be eligible for the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme, they first registered online through MySejahtera. Before the injections can be administered, the team of Vaccinators conducted information checks based on the information registered done through the MySejahtera app. Next, vaccine recipients then filled out and signed a consent form to receive the vaccine in the presence of a Medical Officer from the team of Vaccinators. Finally, the first dose of the vaccine was administered by a trained nurse from the Vaccine Team intramuscularly on the upper arm muscles. The second dose of vaccine will be administered after 21 days.
