Foreign Experts Share Expertise And Experiences In The Field Of Assessment With UUM Academicians

FOREIGN EXPERTS SHARE EXPERTISE AND EXPERIENCES IN THE FIELD OF ASSESSMENT WITH UUM ACADEMICIANS

University Teaching and Learning Centre (UTLC) organised the Seminar on Next Generation Assessment in Disciplines at EDC Hotels & Resorts, recently.

Director of UTLC, Assoc. Prof Ts. Dr Muhamad Shahbani Abu Bakar said the seminar which attracted a total of 61 UUM academic staff also saw participation from other public universities.

It was aimed at providing a venue for the sharing of insights, expertise and experience in the field of Assessment and Psychometric. The seminar featured two foreign academics who are renowned experts in the fields of Assessment and Psychometric.

At the seminar, the participants were enlightened with insights in talks delivered by Emeritus Professor Dr. Mark D. Reckase from Michigan State University entitled, A Historical View of Test Design and Interpretation: The Connection to Validity Arguments and the Director cum Research Professor, Prof Dr Rense Lange from the Laboratory of Statistics and Computation, ISLA, Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal, entitled, Real-time Removal of Rater Severity / Leniency Biases in Essay Grading and Product Evaluations.

The seminar was a collaborative venture with the Centre for Testing, Measurement and Appraisal (CeTMA) and the Malaysian Psychometric Association (MPA).
