ENSURE AGENDA OF THE UNIVERSITY IS ASSUMED WITH TRUST AND INTEGRITY

As the newly appointed Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hendrik Lamsali is expected to ensure that the agenda of the university is assumed with utmost integrity and trust.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani said UUM made history when Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hendrik, a local lad and an alumnus of this university was appointed the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor.

According to Prof. Dr. Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hendrik’s vast experience in UUM would greatly assist the university in moving farther, even farther in the Fourth Industrial Revolution era (IR4.0).

"In this digital era, a Deputy Vice-Chancellor needs to have both mental and physical competence, and must ensure that all parties under the auspices of the Student Affairs (HEP) in particular, able to work together and generate new ideas to ensure that the university’s agenda can be carried out.

"I have also carried out in depth discussion concerning the aspiration of the current government, leaders, parents and students which can be daunting especially in today's digital era, so I would like for him to take a step forward for the sake of the university's progress," he said at the Handing Over of Notes Ceremony at the Senate Room, recently.

The Vice-Chancellor witnessed the handing-over of notes, from the former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Prof. Dr. Abdul Malek Abdul Karim to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hendrik Lamsali.

The Vice- Chancellor also expressed his heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni) because throughout Prof. Dr. Abdul Malek’s tenure as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni) which span more than six years has helped to develop HEP.  Navigating a large department can be unnerving especially when there is pressure as well as expectations of parents and student coming into play.  And now with the advent of the digital era, students want immediate and efficient response.

Meanwhile, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hendrik expressed his heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for entrusting him as well as colleagues with the responsibility to serve and contribute to UUM particularly in matters concerning students.

"Having faith in UUM's very own alumni is a tribute to UUM's products and also made this trust a formidable one; however I believe that with the support from the Vice-Chancellor and university management, together, we can develop UUM.

Prof. Dr. Abdul Malek also thanked UUM for giving him the opportunity to assume the responsibility and trust over the various positions.

According to Prof. Dr. Abdul Malek, he can now take the opportunity to focus on his field of expertise. He also expressed hopes that UUM and HEP in particular will excel even more under the guidance of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hendrik.
