EMERALD RECOGNIZES UUM AS 11TH BEST IN THE WORLD, SECOND BEST IN MALAYSIA

UUM ONLINE: Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) made history by winning three Emerald Publishing-recognized categories which in one fell swoop placing it 11th in the world and second in Malaysia.

The results were announced by Emerald Publishing East Asia at the Emerald Conference 2021 programme held virtually.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani stated that the success placed UUM in 11th place in the world for the category of High Usage Award 2021-Global and second place in Malaysia after the University of Malaya for the category of High Research Output Award 2021 Malaysia.

According to him with that achievement UUM had surpassed other renowned research universities (RU) such as Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), International Islamic University Malaysia (UIAM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).

“More notably, UUM was named the second public institution in Malaysia for the category of ‘High Usage Award 2021 Malaysia - Public Institutions,' with Universiti Teknologi MARA taking first place and UTM coming in third.

“I am extremely proud of the successes we have had up to this point. The efforts put in every year have made all the difference and have not been in vain. Congratulations to everyone who has been involved, whether directly or indirectly," he said.

He expressed hope that the success achieved would not put its denizens in a doldrum, but that they should continue to work hard to ensure that the University would remain the pride of the nation and highly regarded around the world.
