EIGHT STAFF PROMOTED

4UUM ONLINE: Eight staff members of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) received their promotions at the Presentation of Letters of Promotion to the Positions of Professor and Treasurer Ceremony, which was held at the Senate Meeting Room, this morning.

Of that number, a total of seven members of the academic faculty have been promoted to the position of Special Grade C Professor (VK7). Among them is Prof. Dr Shri Dewi A/P Applanaidu from the School of Economics, Finance and Banking (SEFB), who now holds the position of professor.

She is followed by Prof. Dr Siti Hadijah Che Mat from the School of Economics, Finance and Banking, Prof. Dr Zainal Amin Ayub from the School of Law, Prof. Dr Azman Yasin from the School of Computing.

Prof. Dr Harlida Abdul Wahab from the School of Law, Prof. Dr Norlena Hasnan from UUM Kuala Lumpur and Prof. Dr Zaleha Othman from Othman Yeob Abdullah Graduate School of Business also received their respective letters of promotion.

At the same event, the attendees also witnessed the presentation of letter of promotion to Mr. Abdul Roni Baharom to the position of Special Grade C Treasurer (VU7).

Prof. Dr Siti Hadijah, upon receiving her letter of promotion expressed her gratitude for the blessings presented to her by Allah. She acknowledged the trust and responsibility that accompany the promotion, emphasising the need to fulfil them to the best of her abilities.

"Praise be to Allah, dreams come true. I will continue striving as a lecturer and with this promotion, I have become more enthusiastic, motivated and committed to develop the university.

"Upon receiving this promotion, I view myself as being held accountable to the community, which means that my commitment and service are now directed towards UUM and the community rather than for personal gain," she said.

Having acquired expertise in writing and conducting research pertaining to poverty, she possesses a profound connection to the community and a strong willingness to contribute.

Presently, she is actively engaged in a prosperous community service project called Goats for the People Project (PROKar) in an effort to foster the development of goat farming entrepreneurs in the vicinity of Kodiang, Kedah.

At the event, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan presented the letters of promotion with the presence of the Registrar, Mr. Ahmad Rasidi Abdullah.

He also conveyed his congratulations and gratitude to all the awardees for their persistent efforts in enhancing their expertise in their respective fields, thus contributing to the advancement of UUM towards becoming the eminent management university.
