EDC-UUM GIVEN NEW BREATH OF LIFE TO DRIVE THE UNIVERSITY’S AGENDA

edcUUM ONLINE: The re-operation of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) asset, UUM Executive Development Centre (UUM-EDC), which has been given a new lease of life with its rebranding, is expected to help generate university revenue.

Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah, Vice-Chancellor of UUM, stated that after more than two years of closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic, UUM has taken proactive and immediate steps to resume the operations of UUM-EDC, which will serve as a venue for university denizens to come together and discuss university or national issues for the sake of the country, religion, and race.

He expressed confidence that everyone would like to see UUM continue to excel and EDC to be an aspect of this story of mutual revival.

"As a result, the Training Unit at the Registrar's Department will be formed into the UUM Leadership and Administration Academy, and it will be structured and developed to become a truly structured academy that offers high-impact leadership and administration development programmes.

"I am confident that the newly appointed leaders helming EDC will do their best to continue to be the driver of the training-related agenda and the likes," he said yesterday at the UUM-EDC Reopening Ceremony and the Presentation of Letters of Promotion to UUM Staff at Seri Angsana Hall, UUM-EDC.

Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman also reminded university residents not to be divided and to work together to develop university assets, especially when organising programmes and trainings.

He also stated that UUM will continue to develop other assets such as the National Service Training Programme (PLKN) Camp, Guthrie Lake, and other recreational facilities that can help generate revenue for the university and the country's tourism sector.

At the same ceremony, 58 academic and administrative staff received letters of promotion, including acting VK6 Professor (2), acting VK7 Professor (8), Associate Professor (21), senior lecturer (14), Language Instructor (1), and Management and Professional staff (12).

In addition to the reopening of UUM-EDC which is slated to be on 1 February, a Yassin recitation and prayer will be held, led by Ustaz Mohd Firdaus Ahmat of the UUM Islamic Centre.
