COMPREHENSIVE AND SYSTEMATIC PLANNING

1UUM ONLINE: Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) Corporate Communication (UCC) has been described by the Vice-Chancellor as having a comprehensive and systematic plan for promoting the university's image both domestically and internationally, managing information digitally, and staying one step ahead in the governance of corporate affairs.

In a briefing session with UCC, Prof. Dr Mohd Fo'ad Sakdan said, UCC demonstrates that each unit has its own strengths and does not overlap with each other in the carrying out of their respective tasks.

"Congratulations to UCC. I have discovered that UCC is very comprehensive when it comes to planning, structure, and the flow of work. The organisation of tasks is not only done very systematic but also features specialisation. I am very positive with the future plans being prepared by the current UCC management.

"I see UCC working as a cohesive unit characterised by cooperation and esprit de corps when it comes to planning and executing the university's official ceremony,” he said at the Vice Chancellor's Meeting Room during the briefing on Sunday.

He said, teamwork should be maintained because UCC is the front line of the university, and it is essential to provide the best service to all levels of groups, beginning with the Vice-Chancellor and continuing all the way down to the level of students and the general public.

According to him, UCC, which promotes the slogan "Front and Shine," is the main pulse that is important as the front line especially in the process of building image and reputation, which ultimately increases the visibility of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM).

While welcoming the development and plans that were presented, Prof. Dr Mohd Fo'ad expressed his confidence in the management of UCC, saying that he believes that the current management of UCC is serious about making changes in the face of the digitization era while maintaining the framework of the planned university promotion plan.

Additionally, he was pleased with the arrangement of the organisational structure of UCC, which now includes units that carry out specialised work scopes such as the Administration Unit and Welcome Centre, the Marketing Unit, the Digital Newsroom Unit, the Corporate Publishing Unit, the Media Photo Unit, the Event Management Unit, the Web and Social Media Unit, and the Corporate Image and Graphics Unit.

He expressed the hope that UCC would continue to operate as usual and that all strategic plans be carried out, in addition to more actively promoting the university, including UUM products and other aspects.

At the end of the briefing session, he also addressed the welfare of UCC staff, specifically the allocation of flexible working hours to ensure that UCC machinery can perform its duties without any problems concerning attendance records and other related matters.

The one-hour briefing session was led by the Deputy Director (Media and Marketing) who is performing the duties of UUM Corporate Communications (UCC) Director, Dr Azahar Kasim along with the Deputy Director (Administration and Event Management), Madam Hajah Rasidah Rozi and Heads of Unit under UCC.

Dr Azahar also presented the development and revisions he plans to make to UCC and the whole campus through his focus on digitization particularly with the launch of UUM TODAY news portal in 2022.
