CETMA INCULCATES PATRIOTISM AMONGST THE YOUNG

With the National Day celebration dawning, the Centre for Testing, Measurement and Evaluation (CeTMA) organised the 2019 Independence Appreciation Programme that involved 29 children from the Taman Universiti Kemas Nursery.

Director of CeTMA, Assoc. Prof Dr Nor Idayu Mahat said the main objective of the programme was to inculcate values such as promoting patriotism and love for the country.

According to her, CeTMA will organise the programme every year in conjunction with the National Day, as such to further enliven the celebration this year, CeTMA selected the Taman Universiti Kemas Nursery for its 2019 Independence Appreciation Programme.

“Children need to be given early exposure to the meaning of independence as this is important for the process of nation building in the future.

"This kind of programme can boost feelings love and patriotism towards the country amongst the children at the nursery," she said.

She further added that the activity was part of a community programme to build a network of partnerships with the surrounding community and CeTMA will continue to contribute to the community or groups in need of assistance through the organisation of such programmes.

The programme kicked off with an aerobics session, followed by the rendition of patriotic songs and ended with an independence-themed colouring competition.

Meanwhile, kindergarten teacher, Mdm. Habibah Hussain said the management of the Taman Universiti Kemas Nursery had always welcomed the opportunity to collaborate with parties outside of UUM that wished to organise programmes with the children at the nursery.

According to her, prior to the programme with CeTMA, many parties had hosted various programmes at the kindergarten itself including those from UUM, in fact they had had invitation to attend programmes organised on UUM campus grounds.

“I hope that such a programme will continue in the future as it is beneficial and will provide early childhood exposure.

"At the same time, this kindergarten also needs volunteers to help with the teaching and learning process of the children here," she said after the presentation of prizes to the winners of the colouring contest.
