Analysis Of Financial Performance Of Parent Companies And Their Respective Subsidiaries   

A joint meeting with the public universities management teams to analyse the financial performance of the 20 public universities parent companies and their subsidiaries took place at the Vice-Chancellor’s Meeting Room recently.

 

The research team that conducted the analysis of subsidiaries of  these public universities comprised Research Fellows from the Accounting Research Institute, Universiti Teknologi Mara (ARI UiTM), Prof. Dr. Nafsiah Mohamed and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sharifah Norzehan Syed Yusof.

 

According to Prof. Dr. Nafsiah Mohamed, the meeting was held to obtain more information about the subsidiaries and to get a clear view of UUM's management style in terms of governance.

 

"What the ministry wants is to find solutions by creating a business model which can be adopted by all public universities," he said.

 

She further added that the visit was more about knowledge sharing by means of getting a clear picture of the strategies employed by the respective universities involved, the weaknesses and how to overcome them.

 

Also present at the meeting were the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani; acting Chief Executive Officer of UMHSB Group Mr. Rodzi Lebai Karim and Director of Strategic and Business Development, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hijattulah Abdul Jabbar.
