UUM ONLINE: UUM Direction (Halatuju) Workshop Series 1 aims to gather the insights and perspectives of the various associations at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) to develop more effective policies and strategies.

The workshop was organised by the Corporate Planning and Performance Division (BPPK) and involved several key associations, including the UUM Academic Association (PERSATU), the Management and Professional Officers (Administration & Professional) Association (PERPATI), the UUM Staff Union (KESKA), and the UUM Secretaries Association (SETIA).

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan highlighted the numerous achievements of UUM, namely its impressive ranking in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Ranking (401–500), the QS World University Rankings (538), and second in Malaysia in the THE World University Ranking, which reflects the unwavering commitment of the university to become a more outstanding institution at all levels.

"This position exemplifies the dedication, optimism and ongoing efforts spanning decades to elevate UUM to a global scale. Such a remarkable achievement would not have been possible without the commitment of all involved," he said at EDC-UUM.

He emphasised that over the course of 40 years, UUM has undergone significant transformations that align with the goals of national education policy.

"This workshop also provides valuable insights for the management to align their goals for 2024. I am optimistic that the associations, in conjunction with UUM’s 40th anniversary, can chart a clear direction," he said.

He also expressed his gratitude to the various associations that form the backbone or driving force behind UUM's continued success.
