7,345 FIRST DOSE OF COVID-19 VACCINE ADMINISTERED SUCCESSFULLY

ppv akhirUUM ONLINE: A total of 7,345 doses of COVID-19 vaccine were successfully administered to fellow residents around Kubang Pasu district on 7, 13 and 14 August at the Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) Institution of Higher Education (IHE) Outreach Vaccination Centre at the Mu'adzam Shah Hall.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani stated that on the 13 and 14 of August alone, 4,903 doses of vaccination were administered, while on the 7th of August, 2,442 doses were administered.

According to him, the success was due to the collaboration of all staff and volunteers involved in ensuring the smooth flow of the vaccination process coupled with the awareness to prevent COVID-19 infection in the community today.

“I am grateful to everyone, particularly those who were present to receive their first dosage of the vaccination. I'm also grateful that they adhered to the standard operating procedures (SOP) without any problems.

"We will ensure that the facilities at the Vaccination Centre will continue to be improved so that those who show up to get their vaccine shot feel comfortable and the process would only take a short time," he said.

Meanwhile, the Director of the University Health Centre, Dr. Adi Azhar Abdul Razak said, the vaccination process was seamless and only took a short time thanks to the staff of the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) that were assisted by the staff of University Health Centre as well as UUM volunteers and non -governmental organisations (NGOs).

According to him, vaccination for the second dose will be carried out on 28 August, as well as 15 and 16 October at the Mu’adzam Shah Hall and all recipients of the first dose of vaccine must follow the date stated on their vaccination card.

He went on to say that the University Health Centre was grateful to the Vice-Chancellor and all university volunteers who worked tirelessly to make the three-day immunisation process of the first dose of the COVID-10 vaccine at the UUM IHE Outreach Vaccination Centre a success.

“It is a collaborative effort to assist the country attain herd immunity as soon as possible, and I am grateful to the staff and campus denizens who came to get their vaccine shots, of which almost a big number have been vaccinated.

"However, even if the majority of them have been vaccinated, I want to emphasize the necessity of adhering to the SOP since we have not yet won the battle against the COVID-19 virus," he said.
