41 UUM STUDENT REPS FOR 2021/2022 ACADEMIC SESSION PRESENTED WITH LETTERS OF APPOINTMENT

mppUUM ONLINE: A total of 41 members of the Student Representative Council of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM-SRC) 2021/2022 session received their letters of appointment which were presented by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah at the Senate Meeting Room on Tuesday.

In his speech, the Vice-Chancellor said that the maturity of campus politics on 16 December 2021 resulted in a flawless voting process with no major issues.

“It is important to remember that being elected as a UUM Student Rep is a gift of trust, that is, a success that is accompanied by a big responsibility to be borne later.

"Congratulations to the newly elected UUM-SRC line-up who were chosen through the campus election, which was held entirely online for the second time due to the COVID-19 pandemic," he added.

Prof Dr. Haim Hilman said that as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, all parties were affected and had to change their way of thinking and acting, so he urged as a leader entrusted by students to be cautious with future actions, including maintaining the university's reputation.

According to him, elected leaders must not only plan but must be smart in implementing what they plan in order to satisfy their followers.

He said, in the era of transparency, UUM welcomes student involvement in making decisions together, including the participation of UUM-SRC in Senate Meetings and other meetings that require the views and involvement of students.

He also reminded the student rep line-up who are dealing with various challenges as well as social media boom, to be cautious in expressing their opinions later.

He said the university administration will continue to seek the best methods and approaches to ensure the security of student management.

“I am confident and believe that the understanding between students and the university will result in the best strategy for the university’s survival if we respect each other because the university management and student leaders are inseparable.

"I hope the relations between UUMSRC and the management are built on mutual respect, understanding and cooperation," he said.

Mr. Muhammad A'Linur Ahlam Abu Bakar was re-elected President of the UUM-SRC for the academic year 2021/2022. He then led the oath-taking ceremony, which was witnessed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hendrik Lamsali and the Registrar, Mr. Ahmad Rasidi Abdullah.
