2u2i ENTREPRENEURIAL INCUBATION CENTRE IS UPGRADED TO PRODUCE MORE STUDENT ENTREPRENEURS

UUM ONLINE: The 2u2i Entrepreneurship Incubation Centre at UUM is set to undergo an upgrade with the assistance of Payment Network Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (PayNet). This strategic partnership aims to foster the development of a greater number of student entrepreneurs.

UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan stated that PayNet has granted a total of RM300,000. Out of this amount, RM50,000 will be channelled specifically for the development of the 2u2i entrepreneurship incubation room housed within the School of Business Management (SBM) building.

"This generous contribution from PayNet will greatly enhance the operational capabilities of the centre, starting in mid-January 2024. It is our sincere hope that more industry and community partners will actively engage in supporting this noble cause.

 "Hopefully, with this contribution from PayNet, SBM will become a superior entrepreneurship and business hub within this university," he said when officiating the SBM Open Day, aptly themed, ‘Empowering Tomorrow Business Pioneers'.

The primary objective of the open day programme is to foster a strong and symbiotic relationship between the school and the industry, which will ultimately benefit the students in their studies and better prepare them for the job market later.

In conjunction with this open day, more than 30 entrepreneurs and traders took part to make the open day a resounding success.

The success of the SBM Open Day can be attributed to the various contributors, including UUM Alumni, who is also SBM Adjunct Prof. Shazmi Ali Sadar Ali, several influencers, the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM), Nescafe, E-man Café, Pulun Cetak, Perbadanan Usahawan Nasional Berhad (PUNB), Usrah Associates, and several other individuals.

Prof. Dr Mohd Foad expressed his confidence that students who participated in the programme will be more proactive and will be able to hone their skills, particularly in event management and business financial management.

Meanwhile, in his speech, the Dean of SBM, Assoc. Prof. Dr Shuhymee Ahmad, highlighted that SBM offers a comprehensive platform for its students to showcase their potential, abilities, and achievements in their learning journeys on campus.

According to him, to ensure the success of the open day, various parties including SBM Alumni, government agencies, the private sector and individuals. Their collective efforts contributed to the success of the first programme organised after the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is anticipated that programmes such as this will be livelier in 2024 as they coincide with the celebration of the 40th anniversary of UUM’s establishment.

Also present at the event was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs & Alumni), Prof. Dr Ahmad Marthada Mohamed who is also performing the duties of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International).
