15,271 INOCULATED AT THE UUM IHE OUTREACH VACCINATION CENTRE

UUM ONLINE: The Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) Institution of Higher Education (IHE) Outreach Vaccination Centre officially closed its doors at 4 pm on Saturday, 2 October 2021.

Prof. Dr Haim Hilman Abdullah, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) who is performing the duties of Vice-Chancellor said that since the vaccination centre opened on weekends beginning on 7 August, a total of 15,271 people have been successfully inoculated, including UUM staff and students as well as residents of the Kubang Pasu district.

Prof. Dr Haim Hilman Abdullah thanked all parties involved, particularly the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH), and the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI), as well as UUM staff and volunteers who contributed significantly to the success of the UUM IHE Outreach Vaccination Centre.

"Alhamdulillah and I am thankful because UUM has become a part of the national vaccination programme, which is a comprehensively mobilised national initiative in which UUM also played a role.

“I am overjoyed and honoured to be a part of this effort, and even more satisfied that all staff and volunteers have provided the best service possible to the local community; in fact, prior to vaccination day, we ensured that all equipment and facilities were in good condition," he said after inspecting operations at the UUM IHE Outreach Vaccination Centre at Mu'adzam Shah Hall on the final day.

Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman stated that the operations at the vaccination centre would continue if the government, country, or community here required UUM's commitment as an IHE to assist them.

According to him, this university was ever willing and eager to make UUM and all its constituents, particularly in Kedah, feel as though UUM had made a difference, whether directly or indirectly.

At the same time, he urged civil servants, particularly those working in UUM, to get inoculated as soon as possible if they have no health issues.

He stated that by getting immunised, all UUM residents can continue to work effectively and efficiently in the teaching and administrative contexts.

Meanwhile, Dr. Adi Azhar Abdul Razak, Director of the University Health Centre, expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the government and Ministry of Health, as well as other parties involved, for their collaboration with UUM throughout the operation of the UUM IHE Outreach Vaccination Centre.

According to him, the operation ran smoothly throughout the immunisation procedure, and the local community's cooperation was also impressive.

“I am pleased and delighted that we can contribute to the annals of history by assisting the country in increasing vaccination rates in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

"I advise anyone who has not been vaccinated to seek vaccination at their nearest vaccination centre," he remarked.
