UUM ONLINE: Ampang - Aimed at alleviating the financial strain faced by alumni of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), the Alumni Centre launched the 1 Alumni, 1 Ringgit Donation Campaign last Saturday.

The launch was officiated by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan at Futsalhub.

According to Prof. Dr Mohd Foad, the contributions received through this campaign will be channelled to Alumni Care, overseen by the UUM Alumni Centre.

Prof. Dr Mohd Foad further reiterated that the proceeds generated from the collection will be allocated towards supporting alumni who are facing financial difficulties through the implementation of the Alumni Welfare Fund Scheme.

"I would like to extend an invitation to all alumni to take part in a charitable endeavour aimed at bolstering our beloved university through this campaign organised by the Alumni Centre.

"A total of RM15,500 has been donated to deserving alumni since last year," he said.

At the same event, the Vice-Chancellor also officiated the UUM Alumni Futsal Carnival 2023 (KFAUUM23).

The UUM Alumni Futsal Carnival is a recurring event that has been held annually since 2014. It is organised by various committees comprising UUM alumni.

According to Prof. Dr Mohd Foad, the continuation of such a carnival would not have been possible without the mutual comprehension and consensus among the alumni.

He mentioned that the final batch of UUM matriculation students, who graduated in 2003, put together the UUM Alumni Futsal Carnival.

"This carnival saw the biggest alumni turnout of 600 people, with a total of 56 futsal and netball teams participating across the Legend, Super Senior, Senior and Junior categories.

"I believe that a programme of this nature has the potential to facilitate the establishment of effective network connections among alumni as well as between the university and its alumni. This collaboration can contribute to the advancement and mutual benefits of all parties," he said.

Meanwhile, KFAUUM23 Project Director, Mr. Abdul Malek Sanusi Mazlan, expressed his appreciation to UUM for consistently supporting alumni activities, thus fostering a sense of closeness between the alumni and the university.

Also in attendance were member of the University Board of Directors, Mr. Zambri Mat, who is also the Vice President of the UUM Alumni Association and Director of the Alumni Centre, Assoc. Prof. Dr Mohd Sobri Don.
