UUM STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL 2022/2023 SESSION READY TO ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY

UUM ONLINE: The new line-up of the Student Representative Council (SRC) of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) 2022/2023 Session was formally introduced during the SRC Supreme Council Announcement Session at the University Senate Room, yesterday.

The new top brass consists of the President, Mr. Muhammad Izuan Faiz Abdul Rahman; Vice-President, Mr. Kavines Nair A/L Ananthan; Secretary, Ms. Emina Kulasic Bong Ei Min and Treasurer, Mr. Aqimi Rafuad Arisza.

The announcement was made by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Prof. Dr Shahimi Mohtar who is acting on the behalf of the Vice-Chancellor.

According to Prof. Dr Shahimi, the voting process went smoothly and there were no incidents, demonstrating that UUM students followed the rules and the selection process was transparent.

"Thank you and congratulations to everyone who was chosen. Please use the trust bestowed upon you to provide the best service to students while also assisting the university administration.

"We are willing to assist and stand alongside the SRC because what the SRC fights for the students is also good for management, so we will do our best to accommodate the students' wishes.

"While freedom is granted, it should not be abused, avoid negative culture such as poison letters and negative social media comments," he said.

Meanwhile, President of the UUM SRC, Mr. Muhammad Izuan Faiz expressed gratitude for being entrusted with the responsibility of leading the SRC 2022/2023 Session and pledged to give his best effort to serve the student body.

“It is my firm belief that this position comes with great responsibility to ensure that the voices of UUM students continue to be raised and heard by the management.

"My focus is on leadership based on student aspirations by ensuring cohesive collaboration among UUM student leaders and assisting the University," the Bachelor of International Affairs student explained.

Meanwhile the Secretary, Ms. Emina Kulasic, expressed her eagerness to bring about positive change and her readiness to carry the responsibility of a student representative in order to assist all students regardless of background.

"I hope that the members of the SRC will be able to carry out their duties as a representative who will bring the students' wishes as well as shoulder the responsibility to look after their welfare," she said.

The Student Representative Council Election Results for the 2022/2023 Session, saw 44 candidates win their respective election seats, with 10 candidates representing the General seats and 34 candidates representing the respective Schools.
