tissaUUM ONLINE: The professional accountant body, The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) recently awarded the ICAEW Advantage Award to two students from the Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz School of Accountancy (TISSA).

The success entitled both the Bachelor of Accounting students, Mr Muhammad Rafi Abdul Razak and Ms Nurul Azyyati Amalin Razali to each receive cash prize of MYR1,000 and a certificate.

Mr Muhammad Rafi expressed his excitement and gratitude over his victory that he described as being very meaningful recognition for a student.

According to him, he was excited as well as in the state of disbelief when he received the call from ICAEW informing him about the award.

Able to balance the demands of academic and co-curricular activities on campus wisely, Mr Muhammad Rafi actively participated in various programmes besides being selected as a member of the UUM Student Representative Council (MPP).

The happiness of winning the award was also felt by Ms Nurul Azyyati who considered the award as the highest recognition a student could ever get. Feeling highly appreciated, she said the award also gave her the motivation to work hard in her studies particularly during these difficult times.

Ms Nurul Azyyati extended her gratitude and appreciation to all the lecturers and especially to her parents who encouraged and supported her throughout the duration of her studies particularly during these difficult times.

Meanwhile, the Dean of TISSA, Assoc. Prof Dr Rose Shamsiah Samsudin extended her heartiest congratulations to the students who received the award as a sign of appreciation for the efforts put in by the students who worked hard throughout the COVID-19 pandemic by obtaining excellent academic results.

"The award ceremony which was held online also saw interaction session with the winners. Hopefully, the success of these students will encourage and inspire students to go further in the academic field," she said.

According to her, accounting students at TISSA-UUM can undergo professional accounting programme such as ICAEW in parallel with their accounting degree studies. The undergraduate programme in accounting at TISSA-UUM had also received recognition from this accounting professional body.
