The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Dr. Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani said every year UUM successfully steered itself from one band to a higher band in the QS World University Rankings since it first made the list in the year 2016.

"This is the best ascend that shows consistent upward movement from year to year although we are currently dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This success is the result of the hard work of all UUM denizens who are committed to upholding the university's brand internationally. Congratulations!” he said.

The Vice-Chancellor expressed his elation upon discovery that UUM was listed amongst the thousands of top universities around the world and expressed hope  that UUM's ranking in a list such as this would continue to improve and that all UUM denizens could work together to help the university advance in that direction.

According to him, ranking served as a benchmark for the University to be on par with other top universities, which will indirectly help attract more students to choose UUM as the University of choice to further their higher education.

QSWUR applies six indicators in rating global universities namely academic reputation (40 percent), citations per faculty (20 percent), faculty/student ratio (20 percent), employer reputation (10 percent), international student ratio (5 percent) and international faculty ratio (5 percent).
