New Students Welcomed By Three UUM Grad Schools For The September 2019/2020 Academic Session
Three UUM graduate schools have welcomed new students for the September 2019/2020 academic session, recently.
Registration began at three graduate schools namely the Othman Yeop Abdullah Graduate School of Business (OYAGSB), Ghazali Shafie Graduate School of Government (GSGSG) and Awang Had Salleh Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (AHSGS).
At OYAGSB, the student registration process which began from 9am to 2pm was smooth for students who would be pursuing the master and doctoral programmes.
Dean of OYAGSB, Prof Dr Shahizan Hassan said the session began with document review and online registration as well as portal activation.
“This year, a total of 180 students have been offered to pursue their studies in various fields under UUMCOB and OYAGSB including 92 local students and 88 international students from various countries.
"Among them are Palestinians, Yemenis, Iraqis, Chinese, Algerians, Pakistanis, Somalians, Thais, Nigerians and Indonesians," he said.
He also congratulated and welcomed the students who had successfully registered which in one fell swoop making them part of the UUM community.
“I hope all the students will study hard to achieve success while seizing the opportunity of study at UUM as best as they can.
"I hope all of the students will complete their studies and graduate within the specified time frame (GOT-Graduate on Time)," he said.
Shortly thereafter, an academic briefings was presented by the Deputy Dean of Academic and International Affairs, Assoc. Prof Dr Subramaniam Sri Ramalu, followed by a briefing on the Sultanah Bahiyah Library and an introductory briefing on AACSB presented by Prof Dr K. Kuperan a/l K.V.S.N Viswanathan.
Meanwhile at GSGSG, 42 students successfully registered to pursue studies in various fields with 24 students enrolled into the master programmes and 18 students enrolled into the doctoral programme.
Of these students, Malaysian students numbered in 34 while the rest comprised international students from China, the United Arab Emirates and Indonesia.
Dean of GSGSG, Assoc. Prof Dr Rusdi Omar welcomed and expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the students for choosing UUM as a destination to further their postgraduate studies.
He also expressed his desire for the students to gain valuable experience and to take advantage of the opportunities made available to them.
Meanwhile, the AHSGS received a total of 153 students comprising 151 local students and two international students from Indonesia and Jordan.
Of the total, 137 students enrolled into the various master programmes while the rest enrolled into the Doctor of Philosophy programme.
During the registration session, students were briefed on their portals, library services, academic administration and academic briefings by the school.
