Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) concluded the two-day Self-Accreditation follow-up audit that began from 30 June by going through the university's level of compliance on the conditions given together with the Self-Accreditation certification awarded in 2017.

Consequently, the Closing Session of the Self-Accreditation Follow-up Audit that was held at the Senate Room began with the presentation of findings of the follow-up audit which was led by Prof. Ir. Dr. Shahrir Abdullah of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) accompanied by an auditor and two officers from MQA.

At the presentation, he said the auditors were satisfied with the system implemented by UUM.

According to him, the scope of the evaluation consisted of two items namely the assessment of the level of implementation of the self-accreditation system processes that UUM had developed and implemented and observation of the status of the action taken by UUM on the previous Self-Accreditation audit report.

"The report is presented in the form of two tables that is the first table looks at the system and looking at the actions taken in addressing some of the findings of the reports reported in the last audit report.

"For general conditions for the Self-Accreditation process, we have evaluated UUM's systems and processes and note that UUM has also created several processes for temporary accreditation for 14 programmes and full accreditation for six programmes," said him emphasizing on governance.

Additionally some recommendations and suggestions for improvements were made for the university to act upon and the full report of the two-day audit would be issued by the MQA to the university.

Meanwhile, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Prof Dr Ayoib Che Ahmad thanked all the denizens of UUM who were directly and indirectly involved in ensuring that the follow-up audits went smoothly.

He said UUM will work to improve based on the auditors' opinion so that UUM can meet the requirements of MQA's standards and requirements.
