UUM Honours Staff Answering The Call Of Duty On Aidilfitri
The contribution of UUM staff answering the call of duty on Aidilfitri is meaningful and their sacrifices cannot be valued with money.
"Our colleagues work to ensure UUM's well-being and make certain that the university is able to conduct its business as it would normally do such as internet usage; deer, horse and poultry need to be fed; apart from receiving customers at EDC Hotels & Resorts; and campus denizens who will make their way to the UUM mosque to perform the Aidilfitri prayers.
"Most importantly is ensuring the security and well-being of members of staff staying at the university housing and students who are staying on campus. Your presence creates a sense of comfort and assurance as there is a place to seek assistance should there be any unexpected events occurring."
Such was the speech delivered by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani at a specially held ceremony where staff answering the call of duty were honoured and presented with their respective hampers. The ceremony took place at the Foyer of the Chancellery yesterday.
He also expressed his confidence that colleagues would also be very appreciative of the sacrifices made by their friends who are willing to work and give other staff the opportunity to go on leave to celebrate the festivities of Aidilfitri after a month of fasting.
"I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the men and women who will be on duty when others are happily celebrating Aidilfitri with their respective family members.
The Vice-Chancellor then presented the honoured members of staff with a total of 116 hampers that involved 64 staff from the Security Department, 30 staff from the UUM-EDC, 18 staff from the Department of Development and Maintenance (JPP), 3 staff from the UUM Islamic Centre and one staff from the UUMIT.
In the meantime, the Vice-Chancellor also reminded members of staff who will be going on leave to take safety measures such as turning off the electrical switches and water pipes while making sure that their office doors are locked.
