UUM CONTINUES ITS COLLABORATION WITH PKT LOGISTICS

WhatsApp Image 2024 03 07 at 9.16.31 PMUUM ONLINE: BANDAR CASSIA – Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) continues to maintain its collaboration with PKT Logistics Group Sdn. Bhd. after over a decade of partnership.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan stated that UUM and PKT Logistics have been collaborating in various fields for quite some time.

According to him, to further enhance the current cooperation, UUM will continue to organise university-industry knowledge transfer programmes with PKT Logistics.

He said that the current internship opportunities at PKT Logistics will also be expanded, particularly for students from the School of Technology Management and Logistics (STML) who can benefit from the new branch opening at Bukit Kayu Hitam soon.

He made these remarks after visiting the Ship Campus, PKT Logistics and the 12 Waves Warehouse in Batu Kawan on Friday.

Additionally, the Vice-Chancellor also expressed the intention to collaborate in the Jom Bekerja Sambil Belajar (JBSB) Programme at PKT Logistics Bukit Kayu Hitam, offering UUM students industry exposure.

In addition to discovering job opportunities at PKT Logistics for qualified UUM graduates, there are other potential collaborations including implementation of APEL programme involving workers in the industrial areas around Bandar Cassia who wish to pursue further studies. This initiative can be done through collaboration between UUM and Peninsular College. Furthermore, collaborations in community development programmes and corporate social responsibility (CSR) involving UUM and PKT Logistics.

Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer of PKT Logistics, Dato’ Seri (Dr) Michael Tio expressed his delight with the ongoing collaboration between PKT Logistics and UUM, and he intends to further intensify the current collaborative efforts.

He also highlighted the need to further enhance the CEO@Faculty programme and suggested that every school should have at least one CEO from the industry.

He also suggested the introduction of structured industrial training to provide better industry exposure to the students.

The visit was attended by the Dean of STML, Assoc. Prof. Dr Najib Salleh; Deputy Dean (Research and Innovation), Assoc. Prof. Dr Ts Mohd Kamarul Irwan Abd Rahim; Deputy Dean (Student Affairs and Alumni), Assoc. Prof Dr Wan Nadzri Osman and senior lecturers from STML.
