UUM ONLINE: Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) took another step forward in its efforts to generate its own revenue and reduce reliance on government funding by launching the Manager's Coffee Restaurant.
The Manager's Coffee Restaurant, run under the auspices of Manager’s Coffee Sdn. Bhd., began operating last year at UUM. It aims to be the leader in the coffee business that offers authentic coffee and popular Malaysian dishes at reasonable prices.
The launching of the first outlet of Manager's Coffee Restaurant, located at the foyer of the Sultanah Bahiyah Library, UUM, was officiated by the Chair of the University Board of Directors, YBhg. Tan Sri Siti Sa’diah Sheikh Bakir. The launching was held yesterday afternoon in conjunction with the celebration of the 33rd Anniversary of UUM’s Foundation Day.
Also present at the launching ceremony were the Vice-Chancellor of UUM, Prof Dato’ Seri Dr Mohamed Mustafa Ishak, members of the University Management Committee and UUM officers.
Datuk Redzuawan Ismail, a Malaysian celebrity chef, better known as Chef Wan, was also among those present at the ceremony. Datuk Redzuawan was appointed as an Adjunct Professor at the School of Tourism, Hospitality and Environmental Management (STHEM), UUM.
Chef Wan also gave a demonstration on cooking a chicken dish using his special recipe. The dish, called “Chef Wan’s Basted Roast Chicken" (Ayam Panggang Percik Chef Wan), will become the signature dish of the Manager's Coffee Restaurant.
