UM ONLINE: In efforts to further advance its internationalisation agenda, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) has ventured further afield in North Africa.
During a working visit to Algeria, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato' Seri Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), on behalf of UUM, with the National High School of Statistics and Applied Economy, or École Nationale Supérieure de Statistique et d'Économie Appliquée (ENSSEA), last night.
The ENSSEA, on its part, was represented by its President, Professor Zakane Ahmed. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Mr. Mohd Idham Ahmat Zamri, the representative of the Malaysian ambassador to Algeria.
The ENSSEA, noted for its strength in the field of Actuarial Science, is among the five largest Graduate Schools in Algeria which have produced about 60 per cent of the experts in Economics, Finance, and Statistics currently serving in the Algerian Ministry of Finance.
With this MoU in place, the prospects for undertaking a variety of mutually beneficial cooperative ventures are very good, indeed, especially in the fields of Islamic Finance and Statistics.
The Vice-Chancellor and his delegation also met with the Malaysian ambassador to Algeria, Mr. Mohd Tarid Sufian.
